Italeñas
Italeñas combines the stories of Melina and Domenica. Melina is a 19 years old girl born in Italy, to whom citizenship was denied because she spent less than a year in Ecuador (her parents’ country of origin) when she was four. Melina and her father Omero contacted Domenica, a Peruvian journalist who has been living in Italy for the last 22 years and who deals with the issues of immigration.
In a radio show, Domenica tells Melina’s story and the iniquity of the Italian legislation on citizenship. A parallel injustice is the one affecting Domenica as well, being a journalist in Italy for several years, she cannot be the editor of a newspaper because of her foreign nationality.
It is possible to organize a screening of “Italeñas” for free.
