Furrows – The Pain of memory
The narration of the story of the Palestinian people through crossed interviews to five old men in the village. Furrows on the old people faces, as furrows in the fields, in the ground.
These possibly fruitful wounds result from the weight of memory. Memory is sometimes oppressive, in Palestine, – a marking memory – and immediately becomes public speech, obsessively dealing with identity issues.
We looked for a different form of listening, that could make memory speech unstrained, although encrusted of little anecdotes and personal points of view; a private conversation shared with the young people of your own village, that has no primary intention to be immediately functional to political discourse. Narration and not invective.
Looking for stories, and not for History. Soft voices, suffering, sometimes ironic and often angry, those of Sharifa, Mohammed, Husayn, Mariam, Said accompany us in 50 years of Palestinian history, from the 1948 war onwards, always offering a human being perspective.
